I would love to see bears in the wild! Have people had much luck seeing them? What is the safest thing to do if you do encounter them? Thanks!

I see them pretty regularly around my neighborhood. I have seen them a few times in the Black Bear Wilderness area. The safest thing to do is make noise when you are walking in the woods so that you don’t sneak up on them. I have only ever seen a bear being cautious about me, it will stare and then walk away. If it is a mother bear she will be more aggressive but only by giving you plenty of warning that she thinks you are too close. She may make huffing noises and stomp her foot. They are beautiful animals and it is always a pleasure to see one.
