We also visited in February when there were too many penguins to count at the section of beach which is for viewing only. The smaller section where you can swim with them, I estimate 30-40 on the rocks and some went in the sea. People told us that there are not as many now as there were a few years ago.

We didn’t have any tickets, we just arrived on the beach around 6pm and it was nice and quiet. Didn’t even know you have to buy any tickets. I’m sure you don’t.
