We hiked this trail in Oct 2024. There is minimal parking - this was an issue - we drove about a half mile down the road. There were about 5 spots where we parked. It was about a 3.6 mile round…Full review by Bennie C

Hi! I plan to hike the falls in february. We like the colder weather! Is their a place for a picnic or not recommended due to the wildlife?

I don't recall seeing any picnic tables. I believe there were some benches along the way if my memory serves me correctly. You may be able to sit on a large rock at the waterfall area, but that area was very busy with hikers when we went in July.

As others say, trail is not really stroller friendly BUT people do take strollers on the trail. The area around the falls us quite small, so that is also a problem when you have a stroller. The trail also has many drop off areas and you will need to keep a close eye on your 3 year old. The Sugarland Valley Nature Trail which is on Newfound Gap Road about .5 miles from the Sugarland Visitor Center. It is a paved trail suitable for wheel chairs so the trail is in great condition and flat. You will see views of the river. The Gatlinburg Trail is a very nice walk. The trail is not paved but is in very good shape. It is located at the very end of River Road in Gatlinburg just before entering the park. The trail has one small incline but nothing kids/stroller could not handle. The river views are very pretty.
