YouTube blocks Nirvana, Green Day, Adele and more amidst U.S. licensing dispute
A wide variety of music has been impacted by the block, from Adele's "Rolling in the Deep," "Problem" by Ariana Grande ft. Iggy Azalea, and Green Day's "American Idiot", to iconic tunes such as R.E.M.'s "Losing My Religion," "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana, and "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" by Bob Dylan .

Their current unavailability has come about as a result of them being blocked on YouTube in North America due to an ongoing copyright dispute. The video-sharing platform, started in 2005, has failed to reach an agreement with licensing company SESAC to renew its contract, leaving many videos unplayable in the US.

YouTube reached a deal with SESAC on new licensing terms to restore music videos for artists that went dark over the weekend.
Thousands of songs and videos are now unavailable on the platform as the two parties have failed to reach an agreement.
