"Doomsday" is set to bring Robert Downey Jr. back to the franchise as villain Doctor Doom, Marvel revealed at Comic-Con in July. Downey now joins a star-studded list of returning names, as seen in a more than five-hourlong livestream in March.

With those changes, “Avengers: Doomsday” and Sony’s “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” are now the only Marvel Cinematic Universe entries slated to hit theaters in 2026. Additionally, the July 31, 2026 release of “Brand New Day” now precedes the release of “Doomsday.”

Marvel fans will have to wait a few extra months to see the upcoming onscreen assembly of superheroes. Marvel Studios and Disney have announced they are pushing back the release dates of Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
