The Boston-area woman was accused of killing her police officer boyfriend in 2022. The jury was dismissed for the weekend and will resume on Monday.

The jurors began deliberating in Karen Read's murder retrial, after hearing more than 30 days of witness testimony.

The jury started to deliberate shortly after 2:30 p.m. Friday and were sent home two hours later. Deliberations will resume Monday morning.

Read’s lawyers again asked Judge Beverly Cannone to issue a finding of not guilty before the case even gets to the jury.

Without the jury in the room, prosecutors and Read’s defense will convene for a charge conference starting at 10 a.m. — the final time lawyers will be able to argue procedural issues before delivering their closing arguments. At the conference, lawyers for both sides will present their proposed jury instructions to Judge Beverly Cannone.
