Paramount’s “Transformers One” doesn’t seem primed for a breakout start after earning $9.56 million from 3,978 locations across Friday and preview screenings. That puts the animated prequel on track for a $26.

In a surprise twist, the Bots are getting squeezed by Beetlejuice Beetlejuice at the weekend box office. Transformers One was expected to open to at least $30 million to $35 million in North America.
