A Vermont firm is recalling more than 1,700 pounds of butter because it may be contaminated with coliform, a type of bacteria found in fecal matter.

No illnesses have been reported, and 99.5% of the recalled butter was recovered before sale. Another day, another recall. It if seems like there have been a number of recalls recently, you’re not imagining it.

Coliform bacteria exist in the digestive tracts of animals and are found in animal feces. The bacteria can also be found in plant and soil material.
