U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday he would support the arrest of California Governor Gavin Newsom over possible obstruction of his administration's immigration enforcement measures, amid protests in the state.

In a war of words, President Trump said he would arrest California Governor Gavin Newsom after he dared the border czar to cuff him.

In an exclusive interview with NBC News' Jacob Soboroff, California Governor Gavin Newsom addressed White House border czar Tom Homan's threats of arrest. "Tom, arrest me. Let's go," Newsom said. The governor also plans to sue the Trump administration over its deployment of the National Guard.

Trump has packed detention centers with immigrants and is sending the National Guard troops to LA to crack down on those protesting the detentions.
