CHICAGO — Jeff Blashill was 41 when he replaced Mike Babcock with the Detroit Red Wings in 2015. A decade later, long after he was dumped by the Red Wings, he has a second chance to prove himself as a head coach in the NHL.

The Chicago Blackhawks’ hire of coach Jeff Blashill means a reunion with Tyler Bertuzzi: “I think he’s the right guy for this job.”

It'll take years to determine if Blashill is the right person to lead the Hawks' post-rebuild resurrection. But at his introduction Tuesday, he said all the right things, preaching the importance of culture and detailing a high-pressure system.
