The Army Black Hawk helicopter involved in the fatal midair collision in Washington, D.C., had a tracking system turned off, Sen. Ted Cruz said.

Wednesday's deadly collision involving a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter outside Washington, D.C., followed the Army's highest rate of flight mishaps in more than a decade.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the Baltimore district shared two images of the wreckage removal at the Potomac River. Both images show the jet engine from American Airlines Flight 5342 being pulled out of the Potomac on a crane.
