Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk called for a confidence vote later this month in an attempt to reaffirm his centrist coalition's power in parliament.

The result of Sunday's presidential runoff leaves the Polish premier politically weakened, and there are questions about whether his multi-party coalition can survive to the end of its term in late 2027.

But the victory for Kaczyński’s Law and Justice (PiS) party has already exposed deep fissures within Tusk’s unwieldy ruling coalition, which stretches from a conservative farmers’ party to greens and left-wing radicals.
