The Vancouver Canucks will be without two of their biggest names in today’s afternoon matchup against the Seattle Kraken. After neither player was seen at practice yesterday, Canucks Head Coach Rick Tocchet confirmed that both Elias Pettersson and Quinn Hughes would not be playing today.

Not the best news coming out of the holidays for the Vancouver Canucks. When speaking to the media on Friday, head coach Rick Tocchet revealed that forward Elias Pettersson and captain Quinn Hughes are doubtful to play in the team’s first game coming out of the holiday break,

Pettersson responded by breaking the game wide-open for the Canucks late in the second period. Kiefer Sherwood ’s 2-1 goal was a key turning point because the club had only mustered 13 shots entering the final TV timeout of the second period, but it was Pettersson who made sure to put the game out of reach.

Whatever Elias Pettersson hurt during Monday’s 4-3 Vancouver Canucks win over the San Jose Sharks and whatever Quinn Hughes hurt during Saturday’s 5-4 loss to the Ottawa Senators are apparently lingering.
