One officer “received gunfire” while responding to the incident and was critically injured, DeKalb County Police Chief Gregory Patrick said Friday evening. The shooting was reported at a CVS Pharmacy at Emory Point, located down the street from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention headquarters, also in Atlanta.

Police in Atlanta say the suspect is dead after a shooting near Emory University and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention headquarters.

The officer who was injured in the shooting on Emory University's campus in Atlanta is dead, Interim Chief Greg Padrick of DeKalb County Police Department said. He died of his injuries from a gunshot wound, Padrick said.
