A Philadelphia high school student was gunned down Tuesday morning while leaving for school with his mother, sources tell FOX 29 News.

A 17-year-old Samuel Fels High School student-athlete was shot and killed on the way to school with his mother Tuesday morning, multiple sources with knowledge of the case said. The teen was found shot on the 5000 block of Rorer Street,

The boy was getting into a car to go to school at Samuel Fels High School with his mom Tuesday morning when he was shot, School District of Philadelphia spokesperson Monique Braxton said.
