Three people have been rescued from the Atlantic Ocean in the dark after their plane went down several miles offshore off the coast of Florida, officials said.

MELBOURNE BEACH, Fla. (WFLA)— Two people and a dog were rescued after a plane crashed in Melbourne Beach, NBC affiliate WESH said. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the Brevard Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a single-engine plane down on the Indian River Wednesday, FWC said.
