Betsy Arakawa and her husband, Gene Hackman, were found dead along with one of their three beloved dogs in their home last month. The reclusive couple lived in Santa Fe, New Mexico, with reports estimating they lay dead for at least a week before a welfare check by local security discovered their fate.

Authorities last week announced Hackman died at age 95 of heart disease with complications from Alzheimer’s disease as much as a week after a rare, rodent-borne disease — hantavirus pulmonary syndrome — took the life of his 65-year-old wife.
