UNESCO World Heritage says the Heard Island and McDonald Islands exist "in the complete absence" of human impact.

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick confirmed that the tariffs against the Heard Island and McDonald Islands were intentional. The two island territories were hit with 10% tariffs on Saturday. They were among 86 countries that met the same fate,

According to the Federal Reserve, increasing tariffs on China in 2018 led to fewer direct imports from China, but other countries started importing more from China and then exporting those goods to the US. So, unfortunately for the penguins on the McDonald Islands, they're stuck with these 10% tariffs.
