Gulf temperatures are slowly on the rise, but it's not doing much to Texas' chances for an active hurricane season. The Gulf of Mexico is starting to see above-normal temperatures in August, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

Tropical Storm Dexter formed late Sunday near Bermuda, and forecasters with the National Hurricane Center are watching two other areas for potential tropical development.
