Hundreds of people gathered at Washington Square Park in downtown City on Thursday, protesting the Trump administrations's raids on undocumented immigrants. Then they marched to the federal building.
The bill would enable community raids, targeted removals and widespread detention camps that sweep up U.S. citizens and the undocumented alike.
The peaceful protest began shortly after 6 p.m. and soon tripled in size as people congregated in front of a road closure, occupied by at least six members of the California National Guard.
Bass said the raids are the "cause of the problems" across the area and that the problems have been "provoked by the White House."

Protests over immigration raids stretched into a fifth night in Los Angeles and spread to other cities, including New York, Chicago and Milwaukee, prompting clashes between police and demonstrators.
The Special Response Teams (SRTs) are tactical units under ICE that use Bear Cat tracked vehicles, long guns and tactical vests in operations considered high risk. They were used in the raid on Sean “Diddy” Combs’ home, for example. They were most recently used in Los Angeles and are seen as among the reasons protests began.
