Driving around in hopes of witnessing agents jumping out of trucks and detaining immigrants has become a grim pastime and form of protest for some Angelenos.

With protests blanketing the United States over the immigration crackdown — which is to say nothing of “No Kings Day” on Saturday — boxer Ryan Garcia couldn’t sit back anymore as Los Angeles, his home, has been wracked with ICE raids, protests and upheaval.

Some workers are staying home and more brands could face boycott campaigns that have become a staple in the fight over social-justice issues

On Monday, there was a quiet hum of traffic passing on Colorado Boulevard outside the AC Hotel. A hotel employee, who declined to give his name, said it was quiet overnight with no additional protests outside the building. A lone flier that read “ICE out of LA” was placed on a third-floor balcony.

Members of the response network said they try to identify those who have been detained to get them and their families resources.

County Executive Marc Elrich says federal responses to First Amendment-protected demonstrations against ICE actions are “chilling.”

Viral posts on social media claimed ICE appeared at Disneyland, but it didn't happen. Anaheim officials are more confident about federal agents arresting a man at Pearson Park over his immigration status,

“The moral message is clear: we do not accept the world as it is. We respond to cruelty with courage, to hatred with love,” Rabbi Sharon Brous said this week at an interfaith vigil in Los Angeles, where the mayor imposed a downtown curfew.
