Star India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah knows why he did not become the new India Test captain, said chief selector Ajit Agarkar. He further added that the board had a chat with Bumrah and that the fast bowler was okay with the explanation given.

Shubman Gill was announced as India's new Test skipper by chief selector Ajit Agarkar on Saturday ahead of the upcoming five-match series against England. Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was named as his deputy while star pacer Jasprit Bumrah was surprisingly not given any leadership role in the team.

Jasprit Bumrah has reportedly told the BCCI about his unavailability for the complete series before the selection meeting for the five-match Test series against England. Bumrah suffered a back issue during the fifth Test against Australia and stayed out of action for more than 3 months.
