U.S. Rep. Mikie Sherrill has won the Democratic primary in New Jersey’s race for governor. She emerged from a crowded field on the strength of her biography as a Navy pilot and former prosecutor.

Ms. Sherrill, the only woman in a six-candidate race for the Democratic nomination, emphasized her service as a U.S. Navy helicopter pilot.

Jack Ciattarelli easily won the Republican nomination for New Jersey governor on Tuesday with President Donald Trump’s endorsement, setting up a November general election expected to be an early national bellwether for voters’ views in the first year of Trump’s second term.
