In a wide-open American League, the Mariners will have as good a chance as anyone to make a deep postseason run, and Naylor could be a big part of that. He’s played in three postseasons and is known for hitting clutch home runs.
Naylor signed for $10.9 million with Arizona after the trade. He was not eligible for free agency. The Guardians signed Carlos Santana for $12 million to replace Naylor at first base. Cleveland believed it was wiser to trade Naylor in December than wait to do it in the middle of the season.
