Another bill would remove gender identity from the Maine humans rights act which currently allows transgender girls to participate in girls’ sports. The vote was 81 to 65 to prevent passage. One bill would prohibit a school from adopting a policy that allows students to use a restroom designed to be used by the opposite sex.
