Mark Zuckerberg was the leadoff witness in an antitrust case against Meta – one filed under the first term of the president he's now cozying up to.

The Meta chief executive testified in a landmark antitrust trial that it was business as usual when he bought rival apps. He denied he was trying to snuff out competitors.

According to a January 2013 message to Meta's board, Zuckerberg expressed concern that WhatsApp could develop its own social network, like WeChat had in China, and become a major competitor for Facebook.
