In the middle of a run of 14 consecutive pars at the U.S. Women's Open at Erin Hills, Nelly Korda finally acknowledged the consistency was getting a bit maddening. Following her opening round of – wait for it – even par 72 on May 29,

It took 18 holes, but Nelly Korda finally made a birdie. More importantly, she made only one bogey and is just four back after the opening round of the U.S. Women’s Open. Korda shot even-par 72 Thursday at Erin Hills and is chasing a quintet of leaders at 4 under.

Korda says she has learned the value of patience during a season in which titles haven’t come as easily as they did for her a year earlier.
