While most of the focus was on potential NFL rules is on the future of the tush push, the league has reportedly approved two other changes for the 2025 season. Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, league owners voted in favor of allowing both teams to possess the ball in overtime and expanded replay assistance.
During the NFL's annual meeting earlier this week, chief media and business officer Brian Rolapp mentioned that the league would be "liberalizing" the rules of eligibility for its fan-favorite Hard Knocks series.
Among the additional rule changes are the expanded use of replay assist and touchbacks resulting in the ball placed at the 35-yard line.
NFL policy requires 24 votes from owners to approve any rule proposal. On Tuesday, several rules, including a change to the kickoff touchback, received the required votes.
