Ryan Yarbrough picked up a dazzling World Series ring from his time with the Los Angeles Dodgers last season. Then he went out and beat them.

Yarbrough actually has five pitches (fastball, cutter, sinker, change-up, sweeper). Each one has a different velocity, some in the 70s, some as soft as 67-mph. They attack different quadrants of the strike zone.

On Sunday, the soft-tossing, side-arming Yarbrough was the Yankees’ best weapon against Shohei Ohtani and the defending world champs at Dodger Stadium. Using his array of cutters, sinkers, changeups and sweepers, Yarbrough dazzled the Dodgers over six innings and prevented the Yankees from being swept in this World Series rematch.
