The first hurricane of the 2025 season has intensified into a Category 4 storm and will turn north just before the U.S. east coast next week. Forecasters are also tracking a new system in the

Hurricane Erin formed Friday and quickly escalated to a Category 4 storm with sustained winds of 130 mph. The current forecast path has the storm remaining far off the East Coast.

Heavy rains were forecast to start late Friday in Antigua and Barbuda, the U.S. and British Virgin Islands and southern and eastern Puerto Rico.
