Family members of an Indian nurse who is on death row in war-torn Yemen say they are pinning their hopes on a last-ditch effort to save her. Nimisha Priya, 34, was sentenced to death for the murder of a local man - her former business partner Talal Abdo Mahdi - whose chopped-up body was discovered in a water tank in 2017.

Under Sharia law, the only way to stop the execution now is securing a pardon from the victim’s family. Nimisha Priya’s family and supporters have paid ‘diyah’, or blood money, to the victim’s family and negotiations are on.
