Across the U.S., there are 1,024 confirmed measles cases as of Friday. Texas still accounts for the vast majority of cases. There are three other major outbreaks in North America.

Officials with the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) reported four new cases of measles in West Texas on Friday. The total number of confirmed cases linked to the region's measles outbreak is now up to 742. The state issues updates every Tuesday and Friday.

Texas health officials reported just one new measles case over the last week, an apparent signal the spread of the highly contagious illness has slowed in the state, after a slight uptick in cases was reported in dozens of other states.
