Children typically receive their first measles vaccine around their first birthday, but given the current outbreak, it's now available starting at 6 months old.

Texas has reported over 700 measles cases since January, according to the latest numbers from the state’s health department, representing the bulk of measles cases that have been reported in the U.S.

Last week, the Texas Department of State Health Services reported eight new cases on Tuesday and one new case on Friday. On Tuesday, May 20, DSHS is reporting four additional cases, bringing the total number of cases during the outbreak to 722.
