A tornado warning has been issued in Henry County on Thursday evening until 3:45 p.m. There is a severe weather risk today, mainly for Atlanta, and south. Isolated strong to severe thunderstorms are possible.

The strongest storms have moved into areas south of Interstate 20, including Butts, Jasper, and Monroe counties, with heavy rain tracking toward Monticello and Forsyth. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has now been canceled for several counties as conditions stabilize in northern and central Georgia.

While most of metro Atlanta experienced overcast skies and rain Thursday, residents in Henry County had to hunker down as a tornado warning went into effect.

LOCUST GROVE, Ga. — A tornado was seen crossing I-75 in Locust Grove on Thursday afternoon. Drivers saw the tornado rapidly moving across the interstate, as debris swirled. ATLANTA — A ground stop has been issued for some departures to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Tuesday afternoon, amid severe thunderstorms and tornado warnings in the metro Atlanta region.

From Tuesday through Friday, forecasters expect isolated to scattered thunderstorms across the region each day. These storms will also be capable of producing strong winds, hail, and heavy downpours. A 40% chance of rain remains for Wednesday.

Meteorologists confirmed three tornadoes in north Georgia Tuesday, with two EF-0 tornadoes in Carroll County and one EF-1 in Coweta County.
