With the pitch clock winding down, St. Louis Cardinals catcher Willson Contreras made an interesting decision during Saturday's 5-1 win against the Minnesota Twins. Contreras realized his grip tape was beginning to come apart near the bottom of his bat during an at-bat that had a full count.

During his team's home afternoon tilt against the Minnesota Twins, Contreras decided to remove some batting tape from his bat's handle by ripping it off with his mouth and then putting it into his mouth to chew on it while at the plate. While we doubt he actually swallowed the batting tape after chewing on it, this was ... not expected!
