Xabi Alonso has officially taken over Real Madrid’s coaching job and vowed to follow in the footsteps of Carlo Ancelotti.

Xabi Alonso paid tribute to his predecessor Carlo Ancelotti as he was formally unveiled as the new Real Madrid manager on Monday. The Spanish giants confirmed the appointment of their former midfielder on a three-year contract on Sunday.

Alonso has to work out a way for the pair to work in tandem while still pressing effectively and making sure Madrid are not outnumbered when on the back foot.
