Box Canyon Road, a shortcut between Interstate 10 and Mecca that was damaged and closed following a Sept. 30 storm and flash flood, was reopened by county workers on Friday, officials said.

Box Canyon connects to Cottonwood Springs Road, which leads into Joshua Tree National Park. Family members said Ankit Goyal disappeared while returning home from a camping trip at the park.
