Shopkeepers fear car parking charges set to be introduced in April will "reduce footfall" in their villages. The charges will apply in local centres across Stockport where its currently free to park.

Stockport was one of the worst-hit areas. Around 400 people were forced to leave Meadow Mill in the town centre after the River Goyt burst its bank and flooded the car park and lower floors.
