Abandoned vehicles littered submerged roads across South Texas’ Rio Grande Valley Thursday and Friday after over half year’s worth of rain - approaching a full year’s worth in some places - caused at least four deaths and forced dozens of water rescues near the US-Mexico border.

Weather forecasters are predicting an upper-level disturbance to approach Houston from the west and to cause some thunderstorms and heavy rainfall.

News footage from flooded communities showed multiple waterlogged cars abandoned on streets and drivers waiting on sidewalks sidewalks for the floodwaters to recede.
