Heavy rain is falling across the Kansas City area, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a flash flood warning for parts of the metro. The weather service issued the warning shortly after 1:10 p.m. Tuesday for southeastern Atchison, Leavenworth and Wyandotte counties in Kansas and Platte County in Missouri.

Tuesday afternoon's severe weather situation is rapidly changing.The line of storms heading for the Kansas City area has a history of producing .5 to 2.5 inches of rain in some places with a chance for between 1 to 3 inches in an hour.
