Weather forecasters are predicting an upper-level disturbance to approach Houston from the west and to cause some thunderstorms and heavy rainfall.

South Texas is trying to dry out after severe thunderstorms flooded streets and had authorities conducting more than 50 water rescues as many drivers were forced to abandon their vehicles on roadways and parking lots as some areas were inundated with a foot of rain.

Waves of downpours and thunderstorms continue across South Texas, driving a flooding and severe weather risk through late Friday. Some places could see up to a foot of rainfall, while others may face a low-end tornado risk.
