A dangerous, wide-reaching storm will affect nearly the entire Eastern Seaboard Monday and is putting tens of millions of people in harm’s way after touching off several tornadoes, dropping baseball-sized hail and killing at least six people in the central US this weekend.

Powerful storms are forecast to move east after pelting the central U.S. with heavy wind and giant hailstones, causing at least five deaths and leaving hundreds of thousands without power. Parts of the mid-Atlantic and the Southeast are bracing for storms that damaged buildings and whipped up tornadoes in the Midwest and Southern states.

Commuters woke up to a line of severe thunderstorms tracking through the Southeast Monday morning as another round of severe storms threatens some 86 million people across the eastern U.S. with damaging winds and a few tornadoes.
