Manatee County commissioners will discuss guidance from Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo that advises against the use of fluoride in water.

In Buffalo, New York, city officials recently brought fluoride back online following a class action lawsuit from residents. The suit was filed after an investigative reporter found that the city had not been adding fluoride to its water for nine years, unbeknownst to residents.

FOX 13’s Regina Gonzalez has a look at the debate over removing fluoride from drinking water, an issue that’s expected to come up during commission meetings in two Bay Area counties on Tuesday.

The FPUA joined a growing list of utilities on the Treasure Coast that have stopped adding fluoride to their drinking water.

If commissioners vote to follow the guidance of Florida's surgeon general, Manatee would join more than a dozen other local governments to end the practice, including Niceville in the Panhandle.
