Stanford has hired former NFL head coach Frank Reich as the interim football coach of their football program following the firing of Troy Taylor, the school announced Monday.

Stanford has made a decision to hire a veteran NFL coach on a 1-year contract before launching a national search.

Former Stanford head coach Troy Taylor was fired last week after he was found to have mistreated female athletic staffers.

According to multiple reports, Frank Reich will take over as Stanford’s interim head coach for the 2025 season. Reich, 63, was most recently the Panthers head coach in 2023. He was fired 11 games into the season after Carolina went 1-10 to begin quarterback Bryce Young’s career.

Luck moved quickly in his new role as general manager of the football program, hiring Reich less than a week after making the decision to fire Taylor following a report that became public saying Taylor had been investigated twice for allegedly mistreating staffers.
