As the laps wound down, a Chevy brigade of Byron, Larson and Alex Bowman challenged Ford's Cindric for the lead. Cindric held the low line while Byron led the high line. Preece, a fellow Ford driver, slid high alongside Cindric for the final few laps, setting up the furious finish.

Austin Cindric held off Ryan Preece down the stretch to win the Jack Link's 500 as the NASCAR Cup Series returned to action after a bye week.

Austin Cindric won the Jack Links 500 at Talladega Superspeedway, beating out Ryan Preece at the death, with very little separating the two drivers.
