The village’s historical society narrowly escaped damage Saturday when a 175-year-old vacant former church collapsed.

Demolition began Tuesday on the former St. Patrick's Church, a historic building in Dansville that has stood since 1851.

The New York State Police are investigating after human remains were found in the drainage ditch on State Route 36 near State Route 70 in Dansville.
