Mickle Smith, 64, died after spending 30 of the past 34 days in the hospital. Smith was originally booked into the Madison County Jail on Oct. 19, for rape 1st degree and sodomy 1st degree.

Inmates detained at the Madison County Jail on a warrantless arrest at any time from Jan. 13, 2015, through July 1, 2018, have until April 16 to file a complaint for special damages.
