A cornerstone of local entertainment in the Midlands is preparing to close its doors for a multi-year renovation.

CHICAGO, May 21.-John A. Hamlin, 71 years old, owner of the Grand Opera House, died suddenly last night at his apartment at the Virginia Hotel. He is survived by a widow, three sons, and a daughter.
