Ed Norwig wore black & gold for 32 seasons. He never played a down, but the Steelers could not function without him. The longtime head trainer will receive the Hall of Fame's Award of Excellence.

Three athletic trainers will be honored with the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Awards of Excellence for the 2025 class. Ed Block, Pepper Burruss and John Norwig were picked Friday as the trainers in the fourth class for the Awards of Excellence.
Longtime Pittsburgh Steelers trainer to be honored by Pro Football Hall of Fame
Norwig was inducted into the Pennsylvania Athletic Trainers Hall of Fame in 2015, the highest honor someone in the profession can receive in the state. A graduate of Penn State, Norwig headed to Pittsburgh after working at Vanderbilt for seven years as their head trainer. He started his career as an intern with the San Francisco 49ers.
