Barely three months ago, Yuki Tsunoda’s window to drive for Red Bull Racing in Formula One appeared to have closed. Despite putting forward a strong case through the 2024 season for its sister team, RB, Red Bull passed over Tsunoda when replacing Sergio Pérez. Instead, it promoted Tsunoda’s teammate Liam Lawson into the seat.
Red Bull and McLaren were the most recent teams to head to the stewards’ office at Suzuka, Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri investigated for failing to follow the race director’s note in FP3. Verstappen and Piastri allegedly jumped the queue after a red flag in FP3 as they went to practice a start.
Red Bull has implemented at Suzuka its first significant upgrade package of the 2025 season, with three specific areas targeted.

LONDON (AP) — Former Red Bull driver Sergio Perez says he is in talks with Formula 1 teams about a return to the grid after having his contract ended two years early. A six-time race winner across 14 years in F1, Perez was replaced at Red Bull this season by Liam Lawson, who also struggled and was quickly demoted.
